On Thursday, August 25th, 2016, Hesperia Recreation and Park District held a Pokemon event at Hesperia Civic Plaza Park, in front of Cinema 12. People attended from Barstow, Phelan, Apple Valley; everywhere and anywhere in the high desert. This place was packed with people! Pokepalooza was an event for Pokemon Go players to catch Pokemon, battle Pokemon gyms, and collect items from PokeStops. They had food vendors everywhere, face paintings for all ages, t-shirt selling for the three teams, raffles, As well as playing the “Pokemon Movie of the Century”; Pokemon 2000.

The event started at 5:00pm, and it went on until 9:30pm, or so that’s what the event details stated. While being there, people did not leave until almost midnight. Walking around the park, people bounded over what team they were or what Pokemon they had. To denounce the evils of truth and love; to extend our reach to the stars above. Under the night sky, an event was held with no verbal or physical fights. Everything was calm and everything was at peace.

For once, in a long time, at any usual event of this size, whether it’s a football game, swap-meet, or a gathering, there is always someone ready to be violent. Not only did they not fight but they looked as though they have become closer. This game has brought friends together. This game has caused people to walk and go outside. This game has united not only the High Desert but as well as many other places too.
