Daddy’s Home is a comedy released to theaters on 12/15/15.

Daddy’s Home is about a typical, kind hearted step dad, Brad Taggart (Will Ferrell), who lives the life of his dreams. His two step kids-Megan and Dillon are finally warming up to their step dad, and his wife; Sarah (Linda Edna) is happy with her new husband. Everything is going great, until Sarah’s ex husband; Dusty (Mark Wahlberg) shows up out of of where after months of being gone from his family. Brad feels threatened by the appearance, athletic capabilities, charming good looks, and favor he has over his kids. Brad then tries everything to win over his family once again and get rid of Dusty.

This movie made around $93 million in the box office and runs for 1 hour and 36 minutes. It’s rated PG-13 due to the language, adult humor and scenes, and some suggestive content.

Rotten Tomatoes rated it 3.5 stars out of 5, stating “Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg have proven comedic chemistry, but Daddy’s Home suffers from a dearth of genuinely funny ideas – and lacks enough guts or imagination to explore the satirical possibilities of its premise.”

In my opinion, the movie showed potential. Two great actors and comedians working together on a concept with a great message behind it like this movie, however, this potential was flushed down the drain due to the lack of good comedy, and the imagination that was produced. Also, the somewhat gross and or nasty jokes produced for what was supposed to be a ‘family friendly movie’.

I give this movie 3.5 out of 5 stars. This movie was somewhat funny, and wasn’t entirely bad. If you’re looking for a movie with nasty humor and basic ideas, this is the one to see.
