When I came into Granite Hills High School as a freshman, I didn’t think that it would be as hard like it is. I only have one class that doesn’t involve having homework and that is P.E.

I think that we shouldn’t have all the homework like we do, especially if someone plays a sport or does an after school activity or program. Usually with some high schools if you play a sport you don’t have to take physical education. I interviewed some student athletes and their opinions were equaled out.

Bee Garcia-Sandoval who is a cheerleader said that she thinks it is good to take physical education, she stated ¨I think P.E. is good for you because it will better you at the sport you play.¨ This is somewhat true if you play a sport and you are exercising or running the mile, it helps you build your strength up. When you attend your practice you will be able to work even harder than the last practice. Mr. Arnt, a teacher here at Granite, stated, ¨I don’t think student-athletes having to take physical education is a good idea because, if they didn’t have to take P.E, they would be able to take another course such as AVID, which helps you get a better chance into college and helps you get ready for college.”

I asked Mr. McCall on his opinion about athletes taking physical education, he stated ¨I think that it is a good idea because it prepares the students for when they go to college and when they graduate from college, it teaches them to stay fit and stay in shape.¨

He made a good point, but if you think about it, most athletes in high school are going to go to college and play the sport they were playing in high school, therefore they will be conditioning and staying in shape for the sport. In my opinion I don’t think athletes should take P.E, we do the same thing at practice that we do at P.E, so therefore we are exercising more, which is good, however, to an extent.
