Tragedy at the SB County Fair

     Earlier this year on the day of May 29th, a lady by the name of Sabrina Gordon who was a Navy veteran plunged to her death at the San Bernardino´s County Fair. Sabrina was at the fair with some family members and she wanted to get on a ride called ¨Free Drop USA¨. You would walk up a platform which was 36 feet in the air then you would jump and land on a big air blow mattress. Sabrina walked up the platform and was ready to jump off but according to bystanders she changed her mind, she slipped and fell off of the platform and landed the front side off her body. She was airlifted to a local county hospital, later that night at 12:20 a.m. she was pronounced dead. There were reports on an employee that tried to grab Sabrina and stop her from falling; however, they slightly too late.

     In my opinion this was the fair’s manager’s fault, because this ride is very dangerous; there could have been multiple deaths or injured people. The people that get on the ride didn’t have on any type of harness or wire attached to their bodies. You never know what could happen, and you shouldn’t want to take that risk, especially when people’s lives are at stake. These people are not professional stuntmen, they just wanted to have fun. Sabrina wanted to go out to the fair and have a nice time with her family, but she lost her life because of someone else’s mistakes.

      Even though the fair’s general manager did sign a waiver for release of liability, Sabrina’s family to still planning on filing a lawsuit. I know this happened a few months ago although, it can happen again now at any fair and on any ride, we should have more safety and more protection while on these dangerous rides.
