The Young Arts Program

The Young Arts Foundation is an establishment created to help high school aged students who have a passion for theater arts, literature, visual, and design. This foundation takes these young artists and help guide them through the necessary requirements educationally and professionally to get the next generation of creative artists to reach their goals.

YoungArts was created in 1981 by Lin and Ted Arison to give students 10th to 12th grade the opportunity to be mentored, get more access to scholarships, get national recognition, and to make our nation’s most incredible new artists hoping to help them pursue a career in what they love to do. Students get the chance to work with master teachers who are some of the most distinguished artists in the world, including, Marina Abramović, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Plácido Domingo, Zaha Hadid, Robert Redford and Bruce Weber.

Each year, there are about 11,000 applicants who apply to be a part of this amazing program but only 800 are chosen.  YoungArts awareness day is a day to help raise appreciation for art in America. September 24, 2014 was the first Awareness Day and was made a HUGE success thanks to people spreading the word over social media. Chris Young, Josh Groban, Ryan McCartan, Adrian Grenier, Terence Blanchard and Kerry Washington are just some of the former graduated students who still work and represent YoungArts today. YoungArts has other organizations that are branched off to create their own creative arts programs. Organizations such as ASCAP, also known as,” American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers”. ASCAP was created to keep the spirit of old and new musical talent alive through educational, professional, and helpful programs and activities serving the entire music community.
