On Thursday, November 19, 2015, was the annual Granite Hills girls PowderPuff football game! This year, it was Seniors going against the Juniors, and the Seniors wanted to win so badly! Our Senior girls this year beat last years Seniors, so they were out to beat the Juniors. But, the Juniors almost always beat the Seniors, so they wanted to keep that winning streak going.

Both of the teams were trained by our very own Granite Hills Varsity football team players, and they even acted as their coaches which was probably a great experience for them to act as a coach, and a great experience for the girls as well as the boys, because they got to train and play with their own friends. The only probably was since it is coming to the winter time in Apple Valley, their practices and even the game was freezing cold. But that still didn’t stop our Cougar upper-class ladies from training and working as hard as the varsity teams did in the summer and during this football season. The girls did drills, workouts, catching, and little scrimmages against one another. They worked hard for this game, and played even harder!
In the beginning of the game, the girls both came from both of the locker rooms and the Juniors came out first, running through their glittery Junior banner, as the Seniors followed them as they ran through their sparkly Senior banner as the speaker announced the game to begin. The girls lined up in position, and our very own varsity football coach, Coach Gonzales, acted as a referee, so he blew his whistle and the time started as the girls started going for each other. It was a tough game, and both girls played hard in the wind and cold. But in the end, the tradition stays solid as the Junior girls beat the Seniors, not even letting them score! In the end of the game, the girls all came together, Juniors and Seniors, because the game wasn’t about winning but about how much fun it actually was. For the girls doing Powderpuff next year, good luck!
