Cam Newton Helps a Boy Whose Father Recently Passed Away

Remedies Jackson, Writer

Quarterbacks for famous football teams are always said to be, cocky, arrogant, people. But Cam Newton has tried to prove everyone wrong. He is the only player in the modern era to, within a one-year span, be awarded the Heisman Trophy, win a national championship, and become the first overall pick in an NFL draft.

In his rookie year, Newton broke numerous rookie and all-time NFL records for passing and rushing yards. He became the first rookie quarterback to throw for 400 yards in his first game, shattering Peyton Manning‘s first-game record by 120 yards. He also broke Otto Graham‘s 61-year-old record for passing yards by any quarterback in an NFL debut. After making a touchdown in the second quarter, Cam went to the stands to hand the ball to a young Panthers fan. That’s when former Panthers and current Packers linebacker Julius Peppers tossed the ball away from Newton, who chased it down and delivered it to 6-year-old Colin Toler.

Both Newton and Peppers did not know that little Colin lost his father a week before the game. “I was like, ‘Oh gosh, oh gosh!” Colin said, when he saw Newton walking in his direction with the ball. ” ‘Am I going to be on the big screen or am I going to be on TV?’ I was jumping up and down like, ‘Yeah!’” The young boy got to witness one heck of a game with his grandparents, who were keeping the promise that their son made to the young boy, which was to take him to a game.m
