On July 21st, 2015 at 11:00 am the MTV Video Music Award nominations were released, and the nominees were: “Bad Blood” by Taylor Swift ft. Kendrick Lamar, “7/11” by Beyonce, “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran, “Uptown Funk” by Bruno Mars and “Alright” by Kendrick Lamar.

Later that day Nicki Minaj sent her first tweet and it stated: “lol u guys did we miss the deadline #MTV?” She was quite upset that her video “Anaconda” didn’t get nominated. She then mentioned “other girls” that got nominated, but she did not specifically point out anybody. Her words were “When the “other” girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture, they get that nomination.” Two hours later she sent out another tweet and got more specific. She stated, “If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year”.

At 6:13 pm Taylor Swift responded to Nicki’s sub tweets about her slim body. “@nickiminaj I’ve done nothing but love & support you. It’s unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot..”

A few minutes later Nicki Minaj seems confused, “Huh? U must not be reading my tweets. Didn’t say a word about u. I love u just as much. But u should speak on this.”.

It’s not every day that you see two popular celebrities arguing over a social media site, so their fans were excited. You could see some people were on Taylor’s side and some people who were on Nicki’s side.

It was then that some other celebrities jumped into the argument between the two. Bruno Mars felt the need to add some humor to the heated discussion, ¨Yo I want in on this twitter Beef!! VMAs is the new WWF!! @edsheeran Forget you!¨.

Not many people found that funny, especially Ed, who said ¨any way we do dis you gon’ come up short¨. Former Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul wanted to settle the disagreement over breakfast: ¨Dear @taylorswift and @nickiminaj, I love you both. How about we get together and talk this thru? Coffee? Pancakes? My treat. AP¨. After awhile of them going back and forth, Taylor apologized to Nicki, ¨I thought I was being called out. I missed the point. I misunderstood, the misspoke. I’m sorry Nicki.¨. Nicki accepted her apology and the 48-hour Twitter war ended. For now.
