Next week, some people from WASC are coming to our school. If you don’t know what WASC is, it is The Western Association of Schools and Colleges, and it is one of six official academic bodies responsible for the accreditation of public and private universities, colleges, secondary and elementary schools in the United States and foreign institutions of American Origin. They are here to make sure that we are a good school, and that we are getting the education that we need for college. They are going to be here from Monday, March 23, to Wednesday March 25. From my understanding, all they do when they come here is walk around campus and classrooms to see how the classes are being taught.

The first day they were here, when I was in third period, some people came into my class and I didn’t know who they were so I asked my teacher and he said that they were the WASC people. All they did was come in and walk around the classroom and observe what we were doing, then talk to my teacher for a little while then left. They were in there for probably a total of five to ten minutes. They are really nice people too.

When they are all done getting to every single class, they stay after school gets out and write a newsletter type of thing and talk about our school. How our students act, how well teachers are teaching, and things like that. So let’s hope we made a good impression fellow students!
