TRIO App Review

Have you ever wanted to show the world how much you love your boyfriend’s selfies? Or have you ever wanted to put some of your pictures from your trip to Europe on a video? Well you’re in luck! On March 4, 2015, Meograph,Inc. released the new, interactive app called Trio. So, what is Trio? Trio is a new app that allows you to remix other people’s assets and create cool and interesting mashups . We had a chance to interview Misha Leybovich, one of the creators of this new app and CEO of  Meograph,Inc., and find out a lot of cool facts about the making of the app and the background of the company.

Meograph,Inc. is a relatively new company that has only been around for about 3 years. It consists of 2 people, Misha Leybovich (CEO) and Clay Garrett (CTO). Leybovich went to UC Berkeley and became the first engineer major to become the student body president. He later went to MIT and majored in rocket science. His main goal was to become an astronaut, but he got interested in business. A fun fact about him is that he was actually a finalist to be in Guinness World Records for highest altitude snowman. He and two others hiked Mt. Everest and built a snowman at 18,000ft. altitude. CTO Clay Garrett’s first career was a professional boyband member. He recorded with Ryan McKnight, but unfortunately his band had a typical break-up and went their separate ways. Clay stayed in the music business and actually taught himself how to code. Clay went back to school at Georgia Tech and was an art and tech star. These two unlikely friends met in 2010 at a team in training marathon. Together, they have created multiple apps including the main one, Trio.

The main inspiration for Trio, according to Misha Leybovich, was “We really love creating things that allow other people to be creative.” Trio allows others to put together interesting videos, pictures, etc. in order to make something new and creative with little to no effort. It may seem like this app was quickly thrown together with ease, but the easier the app is to use means the more work that was put into it. An interesting fact about the app was that the very first version was created by Leybovich on 70-80 sheets of paper while he was on a plane. Since then, he has worked hard to perfect the app and put it together with lots of cool and interesting media.

When you make a trio, you can combine photos and videos from your camera roll, Facebook posts, Instagram posts, GIF’s, Vines, and movie clips from “Napolean Dynamite”, “Pitch Perfect”, “Lion King”, “The Notebook”, “Grease”, “Twilight”, “ Harry Potter”, and so many more! After that, you can pick from a large variety of songs like “Uptown Funk”, “Thinking Out Loud”, “Riptide”, “Jealous”, “Stolen Dance”, and a lot of others. Then, you can share it by posting it on the Trio forums, Twitter, Facebook, and WhatsApp, or you can send them through email and text messages. If you want a preview of a trio, click here.

Trio is available on iOS devices, but unfortunately it’s not available on Google Play yet. Leybovich assured us that once Trio kicks off, it will be available for Android users, but during the trial period, it is only available to those who have an iPhone.
